As a native to Salt Lake City, Utah, I understand the importance of recreation, sports, and the outdoors. All my life I have been blessed to be a part of many different recreation activities throughout the Wasatch Front. During this time, I fell in love with the field and ultimately decided to make this my future. As a current undergraduate at the University of Utah studying Parks, Recreation, and Tourism with an emphasis in Community Recreation and Sports Management, I have learned many things and experienced many things in and about the industry. During my senior year, I have been blessed with the opportunity to work closely with the Event Manager in the University’s Athletic Department and have learned a great deal about collegiate sports programs and their day to day operations management. I've had the opportunity to work with many different sporting events such as: football, basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, softball, swimming and diving, and tennis. I found that each event has different needs and creates its own unique challenges. As an organizational fanatic, I found this field to be a perfect match with my personality and I am grateful to have had such a rewarding experience. After my experience with collegiate athletics, I've learned that I also have a particular interest for general sports programming. I'm interested in obtaining more experience in the emphasis of Community Recreation and look forward to developing more skills in this area of my degree in the future. I’m excited about my future in this industry and look forward to many more valuable experiences in the years to come.
